Drama CD “Finder no Sekiyoku” Recording Cast Interview

――Please tell us your thoughts on the characters you played.

Kakihara)  Akihito-kun is a freelance photographer, so he’s earning his own living through his own talent. I think he’s a young man with many different faces, from being immature, to being manly, to being perverted, to being pure.

Kuroda)  With regard to Akihito, I think Asami was initially interested in him sexually and little by little it’s turning into affection, but he is very unwilling to show it. As if Asami is only after his body… But if something happened to Akihito, he seems like the type who would risk his life. That kind of man is cool, right? It’s rewarding to play such a wonderful man. And coolly spouting a sadistic line like “Only your body” to his lover Akihito… I want to try doing that. (laughs)

Tobita)  Fei Long is fundamentally cool, calmly taking care of business and finishing off his enemies, but that didn’t go so smoothly with Asami. I think even he himself doesn’t really know what his feelings are toward Asami. For Fei Long, it’s like, “I gained my greatest enemy, and gained someone who I can think about most,”which is very interesting. It feels like, “I’ve met my fated partner.”

Hirakawa)  It feels like a long time since I’ve been able to play a character like Kou. It was a lot of fun. The character I envisioned at first when I read the script at home and the character that I actually decided on at the studio were quite different, so I thought to myself and laughed, “I’m no good!” (bitter smile) I’m glad that it was completed without any trouble. (laughs)

Kawahara)  At first, I was fixed on an image of Kirishima being a very obedient secretary to Asami, but when I actually started doing it, he was surprisingly mischievous. Right now, I’m enjoying that gap in my expectations. I was told by Yamane-sensei that “Kirishima is surprisingly sadistic,” so I wanted to be prepared to toy with Asami sometimes.

Tachibana)  I played a friend of Akihito who is like his best friend. I could feel that they are really close, and that the character is in a very close position to Akihito, so I was able to bring out that intimacy between them.

Miyake)  I played this role imagining him as an unsophisticated, powerful fighter. But his first name is unexpectedly cute. This time, there weren’t any opportunities to be openly emotional, so I played it as a close confidant.

 

――The Finder Series unfolds on a world stage. Are there any countries that you would like to go to?

Kakihara)  I love traveling, so first I want to conquer Japan. I would like to try visiting everywhere from Hokkaido (in the north) to Okinawa (in the south) at least once.

――What about outside the country?

Kakihara)  Well, I come from outside the country. (laughs) But when I’ve participated in events for work in places like Korea and Taiwan, everyone welcomes me so warmly, so I would like to go there again. This story is set in Hong Kong, so I would also like to go there or China. I would love to go around Asia with these cast membersand do some events.

Everyone)  That would be great!!

Kuroda)  Since watching “Heidi, Girl of the Alps” as a child, I’ve wanted to go to Switzerland. I want to play around with the sheep on the beautiful plateaus and mountains.

Tobita)  And eat cheese?

Kuroda)  Yeah, that’s right. Eating cheese, surrounded by beautiful scenery. That feeling of running around in grassland-like greenery.

Tobita)  Together with Yuki-chan. (laughs)

Kuroda)  Yeah! After seeing it as a child, I’ve always thought, “I want to go there.” That’s the kind of pure guy I am.

Everyone)  (burst of laughter)

Tobita)  For me, it’s the Aegean sea, the Mediterranean Sea. I only know that clear atmosphere from photographs and videos, so I want to experience the smell of that breeze in real life. I saw a video of a small island in the Mediterranean Sea that’s full of cats, and it made me think, “Oh, I want to go there.” The island itself is said to be a hunting village with lots of cats, so as a cat-lover it seems like a dream come true. (laughs)

Hirakawa)  I would love to go to an island of perpetual summer and just relax. Somehow, that feeling of time slowly passing by is a wonderful thing.

Kawahara)  I love artifacts and places where people of the past lived, so I would like to go see places like Mont Saint-Michel in France, or even old neighborhoods where people still live. I guess it would have to be Europe.

Tachibana)  Without choosing a specific country, I want to go to Europe. Like somewhere in the Mediterranean, I want to see the blue sea from a white house in a hilly town. Or in a place like Italy, I want to sleep all day with the cats. Japan’s already all jumbled up, so I’ve had enough of it. It’s true, I’m tired of the “Tokyo desert.” It’s more like wanting to run away.

Miyake)  Guam. I’ve gone there every year, but I haven’t been able to go yet this year. Other than that, Route 66 in America. Traveling down an American road, just going straight ahead. I think it’s probably impossible, but I would like to get a license for a big two-wheeler and ride on a Harley there.

――You seem like you would zoom along. Are you a speed demon?

Miyake)  No, I’m a very safe driver!

Everyone)  (burst of laughter)

Tachibana)  That’s great, driving safely on a Harley-Davidson down a straight road. (laughs)

Miyake)  I’ll properly obey the speed limit.

Kakihara)  Thank you for supporting the Finder Series. Thanks to your support, we’ve completed a 2-disc drama CD. On top of that, it’s rich in content. Please listen to it until it’s become worn out. I think you’ll surely enjoy it. Thank you!

Kuroda)  I really hope a lot of people listen to this. But don’t listen to it with a critical ear, thinking things like, “Isn’t this voice wrong?”(laughs) You should listen to it with a kind heart. Please continue your support from now on.

Tobita)  It might be different from the image you have from reading the original work, but I’ll be happy if you instead think, “Oh, this also has a nice feel.” These performers have an amazing presence, so I feel that the original work’s world has expanded even more, and it’s becoming even richer in its image. Please carefully listen to it in that way.

Hirakawa)  You still can’t take your eyes off of what lies ahead!! Please listen to it, and I’d be happy if you support us so that we can do a sequel as soon as possible. Thank you.

Kawahara)  We last met with all of you in a bonus for a magazine, but luckily this time we can bring you this CD. This is all thanks to all of you who have been waiting for this magnificent work. I would love for this CD to explosively sell, and to be able to build an expanding “Finder World” with everyone. If possible, with Kirishima, the lone flower in this savage world! I want to put my heart into bringing out his sadistic flavor, so I ask for your support.

Tachibana)  Of course, the content is a boys’ love CD, but I feel that it has broken the boundaries and become a work that you can enjoy like a movie. The characters have a lot of personality, so it’s been made in a way that makes you think, “Isn’t it a waste to end in Japan?　Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, what happens after that!?” As it is now, it ends just when Akihito has been taken away, so it would be great if all of you sent us messages with your impressions, and if we had an opportunity to make a continuation for you to listen to. Please give us your support.

Miyake)  This work is a bit different from a fresh and sweet feeling. Instead, it’s a love story that’s accompanied by pain. It’s intense, so it may overwhelm you, but please try not to back away from it. (laughs) Kuroda-san really got too much into it. So much that it makes you wonder if this is a “history of Kuroda.” Even though it’s intense, please stick with it. Thank you.
